Yttrium oxide is used as a stabilizer, and this material is mainly a tetragonal structure. It has the highest flexural strength of all zirconia materials, especially when sintered and pressed. Yttrium stabilized zirconia has fine grains and is suitable for use in cutting tools due to its high wear resistance. It is used to cut a very sharp corner part. Excellent crystal grains make the produced ceramics dense, without many pores, and have excellent mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, impact toughness, thermal shock resistance and extremely low thermal conductivity. Because of these characteristics, yttrium stabilized zirconia is mainly used in wear-resistant parts, cutting tools and thermal barrier coatings.

2. Examples of typical applications of yttrium stabilized zirconia:

1. Solid oxide fuel cell SOFC
The solid oxide fuel cell is an all-solid chemical power generation device that directly converts the chemical energy stored in the fuel and oxidizer into electrical energy in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner at medium and high temperatures. 5. Oxygen sensor
The oxygen sensor is a standard configuration on automobiles. It uses ceramic sensitive elements to measure the oxygen potential in the exhaust pipe of the automobile, and calculates the corresponding oxygen concentration based on the principle of chemical balance to monitor and control the combustion air-fuel ratio to ensure product quality and exhaust gas.
