Yttrium stabilized zirconia toughened alumina-based ceramic material

The phase change toughening of yttrium stabilized nano zirconia and the toughening effect of nanoparticles are used to improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of the alumina matrix. Adding different contents of nano 3Y-ZrO2 to the alumina matrix, the comprehensive mechanical properties of the material with a content of 15wt% of nano ZrO2 reach the best (flexural strength 766.74MPa, fracture toughness 6.13MPa·m1/2, Vickers hardness 18.32GPa ), indicating that the mechanical properties of composite tool materials with yttrium stabilized nano-zirconia far exceed that of single-phase alumina materials.

1. The crystal form of zirconia in the same material changes at different sintering temperatures. When the sintering temperature is 1600℃, the zirconia in the A15Z material is all tetragonal. When the sintering temperature is increased to 1700℃, the zirconia in the material has a certain amount of monoclinic m-phase in addition to the tetragonal t-phase.

2. Yttrium-stabilized nano-zirconia can obviously inhibit the growth of matrix alumina grains, which is the main reinforcement mechanism of the material.

3. When the content of nano 3Y-ZrO2 is 15wt%, the comprehensive mechanical properties of the material is best (bending strength 766.74MPa, fracture toughness 6.13MPa·m1/2, Vickers hardness 18.32GPa), far exceeding single-phase The mechanical properties of alumina materials indicate that the addition of nano-zirconia can greatly improve the mechanical properties of the materials.
