How to produce TaSi2 powder?

The TaSi2 powder preparation method includes the following steps: weighing -500 mesh silicon powder and -300 mesh tantalum powder according to the stoichiometric ratio of TaSi2. In order to obtain high-purity products, high-purity silicon powder and tantalum powder must be selected, such as 99.95 or 99.99% pure. The combination of -500 mesh silicon powder and -300 mesh tantalum powder is to better mix silicon and tantalum, so that the tantalum particles are surrounded by silicon particles, which is beneficial to make the silicon and tantalum easier in the subsequent combustion synthesis step Contact reaction. The stoichiometric ratio is used to obtain the TaSi2 phase. When both -200 mesh or -300 mesh silicon powder and tantalum powder are used, it is difficult to obtain a complete single-phase TaSi2 phase powder, and there will always be a small amount of Ta5Si3 phase. Using raw material powder with a smaller particle size can make the reaction more complete, but this increases the oxygen content of the powder, which will hinder the synthesis reaction. The specific steps are as follows: Weigh 23.6 g of -500 mesh silicon powder and 76.4 g of -300 mesh tantalum powder; add 0.5 g of NH4Cl powder accounting for the weight of silicon powder and tantalum powder; ball mill the above powder with a ball-to-battery ratio of 8:1, ball mill Time: 12 hours; put the ball-milled powder into a silicon carbide crucible and place it on a vibrating table to compact to a relative density of 40%; put the powder-filled crucible into the synthesis furnace, vacuum and fill it with argon gas. The temperature is raised from 20°C to 650°C every minute, and the tantalum silicide synthesis reaction is ignited with electricity with tungsten wire; after cooling, the final powder product is obtained by crushing with zirconia balls and cans, which are all tantalum silicide phases detected by XRD.
